Instead of 11 months, DPWH to conduct rehabilitation works on the flyover for only 6 months
A few weeks ago, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced that the southbound portion of the EDSA Kamuning FlyoverAt the time, the MMDA , together with the Department of Public Works & Highways , said that it would take around 11 months for the retrofitting works to be completed. With that, motorists are advised to take alternate routes while the flyover undergoes rehabilitation.
Fast forward to the present day, the MMDA shared that there have been some changes to the rehabilitation works of the EDSA Kamuning Flyover. In a recent announcement, the government agency said that instead of closing it on April 25, they will instead partially close the southbound portion of the flyover beginning May 1.
During the re-decking and rehabilitation of the said flyover, MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes said that he is advising motorists to avoid the area and instead use the Mabuhay Lanes to get to their destinations. The agency added that they will conduct clearing operations to ensure the alternate routes are open to traffic and are free of obstructions.
As for the EDSA Carousel Busway, Artes mentioned that the dedicated lane of buses will remain open during the duration of the rehabilitation works of the EDSA Kamuning Flyover. The MMDA is also studying whether emergency vehicles would be allowed to use the busway on the flyover on a case-to-case basis.
“Although the southbound lane of the Kamuning flyover will not be entirely closed, we are advising the motorists, especially private vehicles, to use the Mabuhay Lanes as alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic expected due to the re-decking works. As necessary, the agency will conduct clearing operations to remove any road obstructions, including illegally parked vehicles, to ensure alternative routes are all accessible to vehicles.
