SAN ANTONIO — Cynthia Teniente-Matson, the second president of Texas A&M University-San Antonio, was the right leader at the right time for the institution.

Teniente-Matson took the reins of A&M-San Antonio in 2015, overseeing the young institution’s dramatic expansion. Enrollment grew from 4,520 students to about 7,300. Academic offerings have broadened. The university now offers 37 undergraduate and 19 graduate degrees.
