Eboni Walker is staying at Ohio State for the 2024-25 season after she was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA, adding veteran depth to the Buckeyes’ frontcourt.
The Ohio State women’s basketball player announced Wednesday that she was granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA and that she will remain with the Buckeyes for the 2024-25 season.Walker already used her COVID-19 season last year as a fifth-year senior, but was granted a redshirt season by the NCAA for her lone season at Syracuse in 2021-22, in which she played only six games before suffering a season-ending injury.
A Las Vegas native who started her career at Arizona State for two seasons before transferring to Syracuse, Walker transferred to Ohio State in 2022. She started 11 games for the Buckeyes in 2022-23, averaging 4.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game across 34 total contests. Her role decreased this past season as she played just 10.5 minutes per contest in 23 games, averaging 2.4 points and rebounds per game each.
Despite that, Walker chose to stay with the Buckeyes for another year, bolstering the Buckeyes’ frontcourt depth following the departures of Rebeka Mikulasikova and Taiyier Parks from last season. While Kentucky transferis likely to join Cotie McMahon and Taylor Thierry in the starting lineup in the frontcourt, Walker gives the Buckeyes an experienced post player off the bench with the ability to play both power forward and center.
They’ll be joined in the frontcourt by a trio of incoming freshmen: Elsa Lemmilä, Ella Hobbs and Seini Henry. Ohio State now has 14 players on its roster for the 2024-25 season, leaving one more spot available for another potential transfer addition.
