The motive had to do with a dispute between Hogan and a man who controlled drug trafficking on the block, police said.
OAKLAND — A city resident has accepted a plea deal and a 21-year prison term in an October 2020 shooting that killed one person and wounded two others, authorities said.
Hogan, according to witnesses, was in a dispute with a friend of Coleman, who controlled drug trafficking in the area, Oakland police Det. Michael Jagger testified. Coleman was identified as the shooter first by witnesses who referred to him by the nickname T-Pain; at least one witness identified Coleman by a photograph.
The man who survived a headshot told Jagger to “look into drug dealers” in the area of the shooting, but refused to elaborate. An eyewitness told police he assumed there would be a fistfight when Coleman approached Hogan, but said Coleman instead brandished a gun and fired four shots at close range toward Hogan, Jagger testified.
