THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is taking efforts to ensure that students who have enrolled will not stop schooling, its Secretary Rexlon 'Rex' Gatchalian said, as he recognizes the declining enrollment and incidences of school drop-outs. Gatchalian also said that the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is still on track to achieve its primary goal of sending children to school, as classes began in all public schools on Tuesday.
The 4Ps National Project Management Office supervised around 7.1 million children-beneficiaries under its educational component during the school year 2022-2023. There were 3.2 million in elementary school, 2.8 million in high school, and 1.04 million in senior high school. 'This means that over 7.
'The 4Ps program provides extensive case management for households with children who are not attending school,' he added. The 4Ps is the national government's primary campaign for poverty alleviation and social development. It gives financial subsidies to extremely poor families in order to improve their health, nutrition, and education, particularly for children ages 0 to 18.
