THE Department of Social Welfare and Development reassured the public on Wednesday that the agency is ready to support provinces affected by the heavy rain and floods caused by the shearline and northeast monsoon.

According to a report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration , low-lying areas like Cagayan Valley and Tacloban in Leyte may experience flooding and rough sea conditions. Through its Field Office 2, the department has prepared 24,400 family food packs and 5,400 non-food items for distribution to 83 local government units and two provincial LGUs in the Cagayan Valley.
