A South Carolina man had 127 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle when State Police stopped him on Route 80 in Morris County last week, officials said. A trooper pulled over Gabino Lopez, 36, of North Charleston on Jan. 5 for a traffic violation on the westbound side of the highway in Mount Olive, State Police said in a statement Wednesday. The pot found by the trooper has a street value of $317,500, officials said.
Lopez was charged with possession of marijuana of more than six ounces and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute. He was brought to the Morris County jail ahead of a detention hearing.
