About 1:55 am, the driver — who was traveling northbound toward the split between Highway 85 and US 101 — struck the connector.
The car burst into flames; after authorities put out the fire, one person was found dead inside the vehicle.
California Highway Patrol said the reason for the crash was still being investigated. Coroner’s officials were working to verify the identity of the person killed.
