The DPWH is opening two lanes on Andaya Highway in Camarines Sur to address heavy traffic caused by Typhoon Kristine. Police and LTO are implementing traffic management plans.
The Department of Public Works and Highways ( DPWH ) announced that it will open two lanes on Andaya Highway in Lupi, Camarines Sur province to alleviate heavy traffic. Lucy Castañeda, DPWH -Bicol information officer, stated that the road will be accessible to motorists after work is completed on Thursday or Friday. The DPWH is working diligently to address the traffic congestion on Andaya Highway , a crucial route for the Bicol region.
The road closure was due to scouring caused by Typhoon Kristine. To manage traffic effectively, the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office, Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Highway Patrol Group are implementing a 30-minute interval scheme in Sitio Mauca, Barangay Colacling, and a stop-and-go scheme every 30 minutes in Barangay Cabutagan. Light vehicles can utilize alternative routes such as the Sipocot-Camarines Norte or the Santa Elena-Capalonga, Daet, Camarines Norte route for travel to or from Manila. The Land Transportation Office-Bicol has also deployed enforcers to assist with traffic management
