STAFF REPORT A Dothan man was killed over the weekend following an early morning shooting, according to police.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, at around 6:45 a.m., officers rushed to the 1100 block of Persimmon Street after receiving reports that an individual was lying in the front yard of a residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered Bernard Mandrell McClendon, 44, of Dothan, had suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Dothan Police, it is believed the incident took place near the location where McClendon was found, and he had walked into that yard before dying of his injuries. Officials said a suspect has not yet been identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000.
