Research tells us that at the onset of Donald Trump’s campaign to run for president, he laid the foundation for the events of January 6th. Systematically, he played us against one another as he promoted our racism; then he discredited our institutions; and, finally, he created a continual distrust in our electoral system. He did all this in plain sight as we stood by and laughed as he “tweeted” and entertained us.
Well, we’re not laughing anymore. January 6th ended our laughter. Knowing there were weapons being wielded by his pumped-up crowd, this president watched the attack for three hours and risked the lives of his supporters and our legislators rather than call a halt to the misplaced rebellion going on at the Capitol. Not even the sight of a make-shift gallows moved this man.. Later, others died as they struggled to survive in the aftermath.
