The Department of Labor of Employment will defer to the decision of Congress when it comes to the proposed legislated minimum wage hike for private sector workers, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said Wednesday.Laguesma made the response when asked about DOLE ’s position on the proposed legislated minimum wage hike for private sector workers which ranges from P150 to P750.
But at the end of the day, we always defer to the wisdom ng atin pong mga miyembro ng Kongreso,” Laguesma added.Laguesma then said that DOLE’s mandate is to ensure that the living wage and the capacity of the employers to pay their employees are both addressed.“Our mandate is to ensure that habang lumilikha ng hanapbuhay, nape-preserve po 'yung existing na mga negosyo,” Laguesma said.
