The Department of Justice is planning to replace prosecutors in Negros Oriental to remove any perception of bias and doubt in the investigation into the killing of Governor Roel Degamo, DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla said on Monday.
“We're about to do that. We're working on that now. Nailibing na si Governor [Roel] Degamo so those things will move faster sa kinakailangan naming gawin. Remulla explained that the action was needed to remove any possible bias and public doubt about the case considering that governors provide allowances to prosecutors.
Meanwhile, Remulla denied any coverup after the DOJ junked an illegal possession of firearms complaint against Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr.“Kanya-kanyang perspective yan . As far as we’re concerned, the cases that we need to prove are being pursued properly,” he said.Meanwhile, Special Task Force Degamo head Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos said the killing of Degamo had affected tourism in the province.
“Kung kaya't itoy binibilisan na lang namin at nakikita naman natin yung kumpiyansa ng tao sa probinsya bumabalik na,” he said.
