DEPARTMENT of Health spokesperson Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Monday, June 20, 2022, that they are seeing a beginning of a peak of coronavirus disease cases in the country.
She said there is about a 70 percent increase in the number of cases in the National Capital Region over the past week, while the average daily attack rate already rose to 1.02. “We are again guiding the public and making them aware that this might be the start that the cases will continuously rise in the next couple of weeks,” she added.She said they are also monitoring Covid-19 cases in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas and Northern Mindanao.
She urged the public to get their booster doses to strengthen their protection against the fatal effects of the virus.The Philippines has achieved its target of fully vaccinating 70 million individuals against Covid-19.Of the confirmed cases, 4,529 were active cases. The daily average cases were at 240.
