The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday, Dec. 26 additional 15 fireworks-related injuries bringing the current tally to 20.

The Department of Health reported on Monday, Dec. 26 additional 15 fireworks-related injuries bringing the current tally to 20.According to DOH, this is the same number of injuries recorded by the agency during the same period in 2021. Case reports were lifted from 61 sentinel hospitals nationwide.

DOH advised the public to safely celebrate the holiday season by avoiding the use of firecrackers, the DOH said.“Pag tiningnan natin in the previous years , you can see the trend is going down. It means yung ating mga kababayan ay naiimbibe na po nila yung right behavior in terms of celebrating our New Year season,” said DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire.

The DOH assured the public that hospitals nationwide are ready to manage and treat injuries related to fireworks. “We have a robust surveillance system for our fireworks injuries and meron po tayong mga facilities aside from our hospitals [that] are ready for the management na kailangan ,” said Vergeire.
