THE Department of Health (DoH) on Wednesday paid tribute to the health care workers of the Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team to Turkiyé, calling them 'heroes' following their return to the country.

Health Officer-in-charge Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, together with Health Assistant Secretary Gloria Balboa and Dr. Alfonso Famaran Jr., Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital chief, welcomed the 30-man team in ceremonies at Camp Aguinaldo on Wednesday. The Philippine delegation cared for more than 1,000 individuals in Adiyaman, one of the worst-hit regions of the 7.8 magnitude quake that hit Turkiye and Syria on February 6.
