The Department of Health (DOH) is not yet inclined to recommend imposing a ban on water activities in Puerto Galera after the area recently failed water quality tests. ManilaBulletin

The said tourist destination and four other areas failed four consecutive water quality tests, said Oriental Mindoro Governor Bonz Dolor. This came after the oil spill incident in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro last February.

“Puerto Galera is not included among those pero nagkaroon sila ng random sampling ng test across the different areas where Puerto Galera has been included, pero hindi pa conclusive nga kaya hindi pa natin masasabi,” she added. “As a support in ensuring the health of Mindoreños, the DOH provided a total of 89 hygiene kits, 200 Type C Hazmat sets, and 300 collapsible jerry cans. These are provided for to help maintain our kababayans health while the government fast-track its response to clear the oil spill,” the DOH said in a statement.
