Novak Djokovic won the U.S. Open on Sunday, extending his record for most men's Grand Slam titles with 24.

Djokovic, 36, previously held the record for the first man to win all four majors at least three times after he won the French Open in June. This was his fourth time winning the U.S. Open after he beat Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.In recent years, Djokovic missed two Grand Slams due to COVID-19 vaccination mandates. The tennis champion, who was ranked second in the world before the final, has refused to receive the vaccine. Out of the last 20 Grand Slams, Djokovic has won 12.

Miami Open Tournament Director James Blake denied Djokovic a vaccine exemption in March, forcing him to miss the celebrated event. Djokovic has won the tournament six times, most recently in 2016. While holding the record for most men's Grand Slam titles with 24, Djokovic is tied with female legend Margaret Court for the feat across the men's and women's games.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER

She was the first teenager to take the title after Serena Williams in 1999. Gauff previously broke the record for the youngest player to qualify for the main Wimbledon draw since its inception in 1968. She was 15 at the time.
