A dismayed Sen. “Bong” Go on Sunday told the Philippine Sports Commission to step in the conflict between the national pole vaulter Ernest John “EJ” Obiena and the PATAFA in order to save the Philippines’ standing in international sports competition.
A dismayed Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Sunday told the Philippine Sports Commission to step in the conflict between the national pole vaulter Ernest John “EJ” Obiena and the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association in order to save the Philippines’ standing in international sports competition.
“Nakakalungkot na dahil sa bangayan, nasayang ang pagkakataong mabigyan muli ng karangalan ang ating bansa sa larangan ng sports ,” said Go, who chairs the Senate Committee on Sports. As chair of the Senate sports panel, Go earlier called for a hearing to encourage both Obiena and PATAFA to undergo mediation. During the hearing both agreed to undergo the mediation process.
Since the mediation process is still ongoing, Go said he continues to call on the PSC to intervene in the conflict between the two parties.
