Recent BESIII findings indicate a new subatomic particle near the proton-antiproton mass threshold, suggesting a potential bound state. Credit: SciTechDaily.com

The BESIII collaboration recently reported the observation of an anomalous line shape around ppbar mass threshold in the J/ψ→γ3 process in 2013 with subdata sample of BESIII experiment, which is also located near the ppbar mass threshold. A further exploration of line shape of X is essential to have a better understanding of its nature.

Team proposes using AI to reconstruct particle paths leading to new physicsTeam proposes using AI to reconstruct particle paths leading to new physicsParticles colliding in accelerators produce numerous cascades of secondary particles. The electronics processing the signals avalanching in from the detectors then have a fraction of a second in which to assess whether an event is of sufficient interest to save it for later analysis.

Robotic metamaterial: An endless domino effectRobotic metamaterial: An endless domino effectIf it walks like a particle, and talks like a particle... it may still not be a particle. A topological soliton is a special type of wave or dislocation which behaves like a particle: it can move around but cannot spread out and disappear like you would expect from, say, a ripple on the surface of a pond.
