Did Lanfear secretly use a major One Power ability?
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary A scene in The Wheel of Time season 2, episode 7 implies the use of a game-changing power from Robert Jordan’s books. Over the course of two seasons, Amazon’s live-action adaptation of The Wheel of Time books has done much to build an accurate take on Robert Jordan’s fantasy world, complete with many of the unique abilities the characters have available to them in the source material.
In addition to several abilities unconnected to the One Power, The Wheel of Time boasts a long list of weaves that characters can accomplish through channeling. Mastery of the five threads of the One Power allows channelers like Rand to achieve all sorts of spectacular feats. For this reason, there’s a great deal The Wheel of Time has yet to show in terms of the wide range of One Power weaves that exist in the books’ lore.
A Wheel Of Time Scene Teases A Missing One Power Ability In The Wheel of Time season 2, episode 7, titled “Daes Dae’mar,” Mat was captured by an assailant in Cairhien. When he woke up, he was in the company of Lanfear, who had apparently taken him all the way to Falme. Falme is nowhere near Cairhien on the Wheel of Time map, hence why Rand, Moiraine, and Lan had to use a hidden Waygate to reach Falme. Mat seemingly getting there without delay creates the impression that Lanfear Traveled.
It's worth noting that Traveling is not something that every channeler can do. It’s considered by the Aes Sedai to be a forgotten weave from the Age of Legends. Since it was known to people from that time period, many of the 13 Forsaken in Wheel of Time are capable of Traveling, Lanfear included. With that in mind, Lanfear being able to get Mat to Falme so quickly makes perfect sense. It also explains how Lanfear suddenly arrived in Cairhien when Rand needed her.
How Traveling Will Change Wheel Of Time’s Story The potential offered by Traveling accounts for why The Wheel of Time would hide its role in season 2’s story. There’s no denying the impact it would have on the main characters’ adventures. If Rand or Moiraine knew how to Travel, fighting over Waygates or long journeys would be less essential to the plot for at least some of the show’s characters.
