Dianté Griffin, the grandson of legendary Ohio State running back Archie Griffin, commits to Ohio State as a walk-on.

Unlike his grandfather and father before him, Dianté is a defensive back, and was a All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference second-team selection after breaking up five passes and forcing one fumble for Lima Senior High School in his senior season in 2021.

Of course, his grandfather's collegiate accolades need no explanation in Columbus, as Archie Griffin remains the only college player to win the Heisman Trophy twice, winning college football's most prestigious award in both the 1974 and 1975 seasons. Archie was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1986 and had his No. 45 jersey retired by Ohio State on Oct. 30, 1999.

Griffin will join a group of legacy walk-ons at Ohio State that includes linebacker Jalen Pace , tight end Zak Herbstreit and running back Cayden Saunders , among others. In the 2023 class, Oho State has already landed a scholarship commitment from three-star defensive tackle
