Yesterday, Destiny 2 showed off an exotics trailer for The Witch Queen that featured a number of new weapons, including our first real look at Osteo Striga, the new Hive-inspired exotic SMG where we learned its perk was that “swarming projectiles trigger a toxic burst.”

Seeing it in action, it looks like what happens when you combine Thorn with Necrotic Grip, turning that hand cannon into an AOE poison-spreading machine. And more than ever now, I’m fully convinced that we are getting a toxic/decay/green-based subclass by the time Lightfall rolls around next year. Many Destiny players were surprised when they realized that The Witch Queen was not going to launch with another new “Darkness” subclass to join stasis. Instead, Bungie is taking the time over this entire year to rework the Light subclasses, void, arc and solar, into a stasis-like aspects and fragments model for better customization. Void kicks things off when The Witch Queen launches, and we’ll assume that solar and arc will come during two of the three following seasons.
