Advocacy groups have called on the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education to deal with the “vape epidemic” among children and youth by prioritizing regulation of its use. | zacariansINQ

Citing the 2019 Global Youth Tobacco Survey, Dongeto said that 14.1 percent of students use electronic cigarettes – 20.9 percent of boys and 7.5 percent of girls aged 13 to 15. This means that one in every seven students – or one in every five boys and almost one in every 10 girls – use electronic cigarettes.

“We must take immediate action to protect our children’s right to health and an environment free from tobacco and nicotine. We call on the DepEd and CHED to prioritize the implementation of the vape regulation law and strengthen efforts to combat the vape epidemic among our youth,” he added.
