DEC awards $152,705 in Clean Waters Actions grants to three interior projects.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Department of Environmental Conservation has awarded three grants to Interior Alaska projects that focus on restoring and preserving Alaska’s waterways.

One of the Tanana Valley Watershed Association projects is focused on the identification of road crossings that go over the Chena River and its tributaries, which are bodies of water like streams and sloughs that feed into the river. The project aims to identify which of these crossings contribute to stormwater runoff into the river and its tributaries. The project will also work to develop “green infrastructure designs,” meant to capture and treat stormwater runoff.
