ILOILO CITY—Hospitals across Western Visayas are operating at a 70- to 72 percent utilization rate as dengue cases continue to rise in the region, according to the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development.
“As long as we consult early and our patients are classified as without warning signs, they can be managed as outpatient cases. It is important that they are assessed by the doctor and monitored daily,” she stressed. Iloilo Province remains the hardest hit, with 8,039 cases and 23 deaths, followed by Negros Occidental with 3,296 cases and 10 deaths. Currently, 998 barangays in Western Visayas have recorded clusters of cases, including 21 identified as hotspot barangays.
