EVEN before he could assume his post as officer-in-charge of Defense, senior Undersecretary Jose Faustino Jr. tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 .The announcement was made by Department of National Defense spokesman Arsenio Andolong in a statement on Thursday afternoon.Faustino is expected to report for work after completing the prescribed quarantine period.'He is fully vaccinated and boostered, and is asymptomatic.
According to Andolong, Fautino came into close contact with a Covid-19 positive individual in one of his previous engagements and consultations prior to his assumption as the DND OIC.'Contact tracing procedures are being undertaken. The transition ceremony will be conducted virtually and can be viewed live tomorrow, 1 July, starting at 9:30 a.m. on ,' Andolong said.Faustino, before becoming the DND OIC, is a retired Armed Forces of the Philippines chief-of-staff.
