Deer Park shortstop Kaden Kiefer applies the tag on a Second Baptist baserunner during Friday night's contest. Team returns to action at 2:30 on Saturday.Even seventh-inning rallies in February are just as fun as springtime surprises on the baseball field.

Deer Park had virtually no offense to speak of for six innings, but in the seventh inning and trailing 3-0, Isaiah Nava opened with a double and Zaiden Kiefer reached on an infield single. An Adrian Perez sac fly got one run back. Then after a wild pitch, Kaden Kiefer walked and Aguirre singled home the second run.

Deer Park head coach Chris Rupp gave all the credit for the come-from-behind win to the pitchers. Second Baptist scored three in the first but two of the runs were tainted, leaving nothing but goose eggs after that. Cox's best demonstration of battling came in that first inning. Two walks and a single led to another single and a 1-0 lead for the visitors. But with the bases still full, Cox came back with his second strikeout. Then came the routine ground ball that rolled under the shortstop's glove and Second Baptist was alive and well.
