In a press release issued by the City Information Office, Aportadera said emergency responders from the Multi-Agency Coordinating Center immediately responded to the incident and had resuscitated the athlete who later expired at the hospital. Meanwhile, Gerald Tayag, 18, a spectator, is in critical condition after sustaining serious injuries when a cyclist crashed into him while picking up a water bottle thrown by another participant along the national highway in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
Major Eudisan Gultiano, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 11, said that they have yet to get feedback from organizers on the status of Tayag.
