Deadly crash left mother of three dead after losing control of her vehicle with her kids also in the vehicle.
police are investigating a tragic accident on the Southwest Freeway near Bissonnet that left a mother of three dead.
Around 1:45 AM Thursday, police say the woman was driving a white Lincoln with her 12-year-old, 2-year-old, and 6-month-old baby inside. "She lost control of that vehicle and left the roadway, striking two signs that are behind us, and unfortunately got ejected from the vehicle," said Sgt. Griffiths with HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division.Police say the woman and her 2-year-old daughter were ejected from the car. While the young girl survived, investigators say the car landed on top of the woman, killing her."We don't see any car seats in the vehicle," Sgt. Griffiths said.
Salinas said it’s imperative for children to be buckled into a properly installed car seat. In many instances, Salinas said it could be the difference between life and death."A properly installed car seat can reduce a fatality in a child by 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers. The numbers don’t lie," Salinas said.
Authorities said there are resources available for families who can't afford a car seat or aren’t sure if they’re properly installing the products.
