Dawson girls could be sleeper in District 23-6A basketball race
Dawson’s Kennedy Ford is the Lady Eagles' go-to player, but head coach Sharee Griffin is receiving contributions from multiple players in Dawson's 10-7 start this season.Less than a week until the start of the District 23-6A girls basketball race, Dawson appears to be the sleeping giant no team wishes to awaken.
Dawson has fallen to Manvel, 32-31; Hightower, 29-26; Seven Lakes 45-42, in OT; and Cy Springs, 48-46, in OT.And that doesn’t include a 53-48 setback to San Antonio Johnson, which sports a 12-7 record. Dawson isn’t blessed with great height, great shooters or a wealth of experience, but it possesses strengths elsewhere.
“Kennedy helps a lot with the rebounds and trash stuff,” Griffin said. “Kendall Ford, a freshman, is one of our strongest players.
