The Mets have decided on their final rotation spot to open the 2023 season, filling the void left by the injured Jose Quintana.

David Peterson has earned a rotation spot for the Mets with his standout spring, The Post has learned.Peterson was in competition with Tylor Megill for the fifth spot and will begin the year in the Mets’ vaunted group, which includes future Hall of Famers Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander plus Japanese signee Kodai Senga and veteran Carlos Carrasco.

Peterson earned the assignment by posting a 0.75 ERA this spring, following up on a solid 2022 regular season in which he went 7-5 with a 3.83 ERA with nine starts among his 28 appearances. Megill was the surprise Opening Day starter last year due to injuries and showed great ability before going out with an injury himself.The plan is to keep Megill stretched out so he will be in position to start as well.
