And so finding the daughter of one of President Vladimir Putin’s top aides in their midst has come as something of a surprise.
Her Instagram account, with more than 82,000 followers, is a paean to the escapades available to Russian elite: fittings at exclusive Moscow boutiques; hugs with her father in front of Le Bristol, a Parisian temple to glamour; traditional lezginka dancing and partying alongside Chechen strongman Ramzan Kadyrov in Chechnya, where she also learned how to shoot automatic rifles.
