Hall worked with others to create and market the expensive compounded medications, authorities said. He and others paid marketers, who recruited local doctors to write prescriptions, the Justice Department said.
Prosecutors said the defendants created “investment opportunities” for doctors who wrote the prescriptions so they could profit from the medications, paid for by TRICARE, a federal health insurance program for military members and veterans and their families.The jury convicted Hall of four counts of paying and receiving unlawful kickbacks, and one count of money laundering. He faces up to five years in prison for each kickback count, and up to 10 years for the money laundering count.
The prosecution, led by the Justice Department, led to several spin-off criminal and civil cases in the Dallas area involving doctors, marketers and health care company owners.
