Dallas ISD school named for county’s first Black judge is progress, but not the destination | Opinion

Louis Arthur Bedford, IV, pictured in this collage as a child with his grandfather, Louis Arthur Bedford, Jr., the first Black judge in Dallas, writes about lessons learned from his "Grandpap" as Dallas ISD moves to rename a school in his honor.Growing up, I knew I was the grandson of the first Black judge of Dallas County, the grandson of a man who worked with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
