Dallas County expected to finish new government centers for residents in Mesquite and East Dallas.
“I’m very proud of these consolidations. More than anything, I’m very happy to say that we’re reducing the deferred maintenance costs from $100 million to less than $20 million,” she said.The Mesquite and East Dallas projects are slated to be completed in 2024 and 2025, respectively.The Mesquite Government Center is under construction at 500 S. Galloway Ave. The county will move Mesquite’s tax office, built in 1986, and court services facility, built in 1965, into the new center.

Bazan said residents will be able to access Justice of the Peace courts, the passport office, the constable’s office and veteran services. There will also be public meeting spaces.It will be in Commissioner Theresa Daniel’s District 1. She said accessibility is key. Many of the older buildings that are being replaced were tucked away in neighborhoods with little parking.
