Above all, Golden hopes her new album will be a resource to the church. She says the songs could be played by both large worship teams and smaller ones that only have a guitar or piano. She wants “churches [to] feel like they have anthems that help them learn scripture and are hope-filled and faith-based.”
She soon decided she wanted to focus her career on worship music. She was leading a worship ministry by 17, she says, and also began recording her own music. Also at 17, she released the song “Take Me There,” which reached the top five on the iTunes Christian Charts.Those teenage years weren’t easy for Golden, who says she has OCD and that she “grew up super mentally ill.” She was “very suicidal” at ages 14 and 15 and “couldn’t deal with shame well.
