Just last year, the Lions lost to Chaminade 48-17, Sierra Canyon 20-9, Alemany 56-21, and St. Bonaventure 34-13 in what decided the Marmonte League champion. For what it’s worth, when Oaks Christian traveled to Sierra Canyon to play during the 2021 spring season, the Lions were shutout for the first time in program history 42-0.
When it comes to the bright lights, or as some call it: ‘the step-up game’. The Lions have fallen short … by a wide margin … On the flip side, Oaks Christian benefitted from a mediocre 2021 fall season by qualifying for the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs last season, a much lower division than the program’s expectations, even according to team captain Jalen Lewis.There are more step-up games for the Lions this fall: opening the season with Chaminade before taking on Sierra Canyon in Week 1 and hosting Gardena Serra in Week 2 — that’s three straight Mission League opponents.
