Wilson was sentenced to one year of probation, with the first six months to be served in home confinement, according to the Massachusetts U.S. attorney's office. He was also ordered to complete 250 hours of community service and pay a $75,000 fine. Wilson has insisted he believed the payments — made through the ringleader of the admissions scheme, Rick Singer — were legitimate donations. He has said that his children were all qualified to get into the schools on their own athletic and academic merit.
Wilson said it is “clear to all" that he was telling the truth that he did not violate any laws or school policies.
