Ryan O'Malley, 21, was found unresponsive by his roommate in the early hours of Oct. 16, 2022. His funeral was Friday Oct. 21.
about 4:15 a.m. Sunday in his off-campus apartment in The Standard at 330 W. College Avenue, according to police. He had attended a party the night before about two blocks away at Beaver Plaza, 222 W. Beaver Avenue and consumed too much alcohol during a “drinking game,” police said.
District Attorney Bernie Cantorna told PennLive the preliminary investigation so far indicated that O’Malley bought his own alcohol and there did not appear to be any hazing or foul play involved. The investigation into his death continues as police await the results of toxicology tests. O’Malley, of South Abington Township, was a junior studying engineering. A visitation was set for Thursday night and Friday morning before a funeral Friday at noon, with burial afterward.
He graduated in 2020 from Abington Heights High School and enjoyed his dogs, baseball, softball, and going to the gym, “Ryan liked to listen to country music and play Rock Band with his friends at school.
