The couple began trying to start a family after their February 2022 wedding – despite the rapper previously thinking she would “never” have children.
“I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me,” she explained.
“I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.”The couple subsequently underwent a “tug’o’war” over who would carry their baby, with Dupart convincing her “nurturing” wife to carry their child.sosobrat/Instagram
“I felt like she should have the experience,” Dupart told the outlet, noting that she suffered major health complications after her own egg retrieval. After Da Brat had surgery to remove fibroids and polyps, she underwent an embryo transfer — and ultimately suffered a miscarriage. With the “few eggs” they had left, as well as sperm from an anonymous donor described as an “eager entrepreneur,” Da Brat was able to conceive again.
