Far from the usual squabbling during congressional hearings, Tuesday’s deliberations of the Senate committee on environment led by Senator Cynthia Villar ended with an emotional song, “What A Wonderful World.” | MAgerINQ

While tackling Senate Bill No. 517 filed by panel head Villar, environmental lawyer Antonio Oposa Jr. offered to pay tribute to those in government pursuing the vision of a “beautiful and bountiful Philippines” through a music video of “What A Wonderful World,” a song popularized by Louis Armstrong.The said measure seeks to declare the marine, mangrove, foreshore areas, and water recharge areas of the Bantayan Group of Islands as a protected landscape and seascape.

Oposa prodded those in the hearing room, including Villar and Senator Francis Tolentino, to stand and sing along with them.
