The Dallas City Council voted 14 to 1 to allow residents to vote on allocating funds to make upgrades to Fair Park and the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. If approved, the vote will put more than $300 million into improvements at Fair Park.
PUBLISHED 3:27 PM CDT Apr. 29, 2022DALLAS — Come November, the residents of Dallas will get the chance to vote on what some describe as long awaited upgrades to not only Fair Park but also the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. During the Dallas City Council meeting, a resolution passed with a vote of 14 to 1.
“I really do believe that under your leadership, Mayor, and members of this council, big things are going to happen here,” he said. Mendelsohn voiced her displeasure with the project, noting that past additions to the center hadn’t reached their revenue targets. “I’m for this expansion, because I know what the competition is like,” Hutchison said. “I know that the competition for convention is heavy from other coasts as well as even in Texas and we need to be competitive and if Dallas is anything, we are competitive.”
