British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in intensive care after condition worsens
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, hospitalized for COVID-19, has been moved to intensive care, his office said Monday.
The 55-year-old prime minister was taken Sunday evening to London’s St. Thomas’ Hospital after experiencing “persistent symptoms” of a coronavirus infection that was diagnosed March 26. Johnson’s office said in a statement that, over the course of Monday afternoon, “the condition of the prime minister has worsened, and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.”
The foreign secretary, Dominic Raab, has been deputized by Johnson to step in “where necessary,” the statement said.
