The BA.4/BA.5 sublineages of the omicron variant are now the dominant strains spreading in the state of Colorado, according to data from the CDPHE. COVID19Colorado
More than 1,543,200 people in Colorado have tested positive for COVID-19 and more than 64,700 have been hospitalized as of Monday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
CDPHE COVID-19 data shows BA.4 and BA.5 make up 11.90% and 38.10% of all sequenced tests, effectively outpacing BA.2.12.1, which made up 45.24% of all sequenced tests as of June 19. Due to lag in reporting, it's likely the number of sequenced tests that are now BA.4 and BA.5 is greater than what current data shows.
In Denver, the city's public health department has previously said there will not be a citywide mask mandate to stop the spread of these variants since hospitalizations do not appear to be rising at a level that would overwhelm the health care system.Here's the latest COVID-19 data from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
