Islanders' Cal-bound swimming star relishes record-setting performance: 'I couldn't have predicted all that'
After a year away from high school swimming, Coronado senior Sam Quarles returned ready to set a San Diego Section record … or actually two.
“With the excitement from all the people here, it was really cool,” Quarles said, ‘“especially when I heard the announcer say it.”“I’m trying to get as many points for Coronado as I can,” said Quarles, who won the 100 back title as a sophomore. “More records? That’d be amazing.” Hazle has already set a new personal best in the 200 IM in club swimming since the last prep season, plus she sees room to improve on her prelim performance.
