MARTINEZ — A Concord woman was sentenced to two years of confinement after pleading no contest to drunk driving in connection with a 2022 crash that killed one pedestrian and injured another, court records show.to drunk driving causing injury in the July 30, 2022 crashed that killed 27-year-old Maricarmen Leon. She entered her plea without a deal in place, leaving the final sentence up to Judge Mary Ann O’Malley, according to court records.Leon was leaving a bar in Walnut Creek at around 2 a.m.
Leon worked as a phlebotomist at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek and “was an amazing daughter, sister, cousin, and friend,” according to Alexia Larios, who created the page on behalf of her sister Janet Leon. “She had an amazing spirit with a huge heart, cherishing everyone who entered her life.. constantly smiling and laughing. She was following her dreams at Kaiser as a phlebotomist, where she stood out as a hard worker who always gave her all,” she wrote on
