Arnold Schwarzenegger could return to wield a sword in Conan the Barbarian 3, a.k.a. The Legend of Conan, but is the sequel actually going to happen?
The third installment of the Conan the Barbarian movie franchise, The Legend of Conan, could bring back the glory of the Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle from the 1980s, though details about its cast and story have been up in the air for more than a decade. Based on Robert E. Howard’s stories of the title character, the 1982 film Conan the Barbarian catapulted Schwarzenegger to Hollywood stardom, and it remains one of the best sword and sorcery movies today.
At the same time, Schwarzenegger had some good news regarding plans for The Legend of Conan. He confirmed that Conan the Barbarian’s original screenwriter, John Milius, has already penned a screenplay for the long-awaited third installment. Also, while the actor didn’t offer any names, he stated that there are directors who are eager to get involved with the project.
Conan The Barbarian 3 Release Date The release date for The Legend of Conan is hard to determine as the project is still unconfirmed. But if the long-awaited sequel does get picked up by a studio in 2023, then fans can expect a 2025 release window given that production might commence and wrap up in 2024. Arnold Schwarzenegger is currently filming the second season of his Netflix series FUBAR, which might also impact the production and release of the third Conan the Barbarian movie.
