A small team of geologists and seismologists at the California Institute of Technology has found evidence via computer modeling that suggest giant blobs of material near the Earth's core, believed to have been created by a cosmic collision 4.5 billion years ago, may be responsible for modern plate tectonics.
Computer models suggest modern plate tectonics are due to blobs left behind by cosmic collision retrieved 8 May 2024 from https://phys.org/news/2024-05-modern-plate-tectonics-due-blobs.html

California Startup Develops Technology to Reduce Carbon Dioxide in Cement ProductionA California startup has developed a technology that reduces carbon dioxide emissions in the making of cement, a material responsible for roughly 8% of global carbon dioxide emissions. The technology intercepts carbon dioxide exhaust from cement kilns and routes it back in to make additional cement. The technology is being implemented at a CalPortland facility in Redding, California, with the aim of being a solution that can work at any cement plant.
