The Commission on Elections will file cases against five individuals who allegedly peddled “fake news” on social media regarding the 2022 elections, Commissioner George Garcia said Wednesday.

“Asahan niyo po in the next succeeding days, even after the elections, we will be filing cases against these individuals simply because mali po ‘yung ginagawa nila [what they’re doing is wrong],” he said. He underscored the importance of free expression and guaranteed that cases will not be filed against those who just simply express their opinions regarding the elections.
